My mother (aged 68yrs) have been suffering from severe foot pain and slowly she started feeling numbness on her right foot. We have been trying out few options but the right medication was not done. Finally we chose to meet Dr. Renjith Unnikrishnan sir. He not only helped us get the right treatment but he ensured we understand exactly what has happened. He showed immense patience and detailed us with the reason, process, after care and answered every question/concern raised by us. The key hole spine surgery was a great success and within few days she was all back to form. Her posture changed, her mental health was positive and she is happy(that matters the most). Thanks sir for the support.

My wife experienced a disc re-herniation after undergoing a microdiscectomy in Thailand on first week of March 2024. The condition worsened, severely compressing her nerves and affecting the mobility of her right leg. Her spinal surgeon recommended immediate fusion surgery. Considering the recovery needs, we decided to move to Kerala for the procedure. After extensive research, we found Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan at KIMS Hospital in Trivandrum, renowned as one of the finest spine surgeons in Kerala and an expert in scoliosis surgery, which is more complex than disc herniation surgery. Unable to secure an online appointment due to high demand, we used personal contacts at the hospital to get an appointment for April 9th, explaining the urgency of the situation. We arrived in Trivandrum on April 8th and met Dr. Ranjith the following day. After reviewing the MRI from Thailand and conducting a clinical examination, he confirmed that my wife's right leg was semi-paralyzed, with about 70% mobility lost, and recommended immediate fusion surgery. To our surprise, he scheduled the surgery for that same day, emphasizing the risk of delaying treatment. He explained that any delay could worsen her condition, making recovery difficult if the nerve damage became permanent. Dr. Ranjith scheduled the surgery for 9 PM and thoroughly explained the procedure, associated risks, and recovery period. The endoscopic fusion surgery lasted until 3 AM the next day. Dr. Ranjith, a senior surgeon who had been in the outpatient department that morning, stayed until the surgery was completed, showing remarkable dedication. He shared procedure photographs and assured me that, despite some difficulties, he had performed the surgery as best as possible. Amazingly, the next day in the ICU, he asked my wife to get out of bed and walk. Even under anesthesia, she managed to walk, and 80% of her leg mobility was restored, providing immense relief for us. Three months post-surgery, she is still in the recovery phase. The titanium implants used in the fusion surgery take time to fully fuse with the bones, causing occasional pain. While I wasn't entirely satisfied with the nursing care after moving to the room and some administrative procedures, we are grateful for Dr. Ranjith’s expertise and the hospital's facilities.

I consulted Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan for my disc herniation issue in February. I consider myself very fortunate to have met him at such a critical time. He mentioned that my condition had worsened and required surgery, warning that further delay could lead to serious complications. My back pain, which started radiating down my leg towards the end of October, became unbearable by the end of November. Despite consulting several doctors, visiting multiple hospitals, and taking numerous medications, nothing provided relief. The pain only intensified. When the pain became excruciating, a distant relative suggested I visit Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan at KIMS Hospital, Trivandrum. We decided to give it one last chance and visited him on February 3rd. That day, I finally understood my condition. Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan explained everything about my disease in a simple and comprehensible manner. He stated that surgery was the only solution since I had been suffering with the pain for so long. He also detailed the surgical procedure and the associated risks, which was very reassuring for my family and me. Unlike other doctors who hesitated to operate due to my age and predicted lifelong suffering, Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan confidently assured us that I would be completely fine post-surgery. We decided to proceed, and the surgery was scheduled for February 19th. Although I was nervous, Doctor's confidence and cheerful demeanor put me at ease. When I awoke around 2:30 am post-surgery, I was amazed to find him still in the postoperative ward. He had performed a 12 hour long procedure on the 19th of February starting from 7:30am and had come out of the OT at 7:30 pm in the evening. After that he performed my procedure and another procedure and only left the hospital after 4:30 am. His dedication and passion for his profession are truly commendable. Finding a doctor with such commitment is rare. The relief from pain was immediate after the surgery, with only some postoperative weakness. During my follow-up visit, doctor advised me to avoid bending forward and lifting heavy objects but reassured me that I could ride a two-wheeler again, provided I kept my back straight. This news made me incredibly happy. Four months after the surgery, I am back to normal with full energy. I owe my ability to walk properly and perform daily activities to Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan. Words cannot express my gratitude for his help. He is a simple, humble, calm, and composed man who treats his patients with immense politeness and patience. His dedication to his work is unparalleled. May God bless him abundantly, granting him good health for many years so that countless others can benefit from his exceptional service. Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan truly embodies the spirit of a dedicated and compassionate healer.

I am Lal aged 46. I am an IT professional. I had periodic back pain issues but one day it aggravated causing numbness in my legs while driving and also causing balance issues and my toe fingers non responding. I was admitted to KIMS and took consultation from spine specialist Dr Ranjith Unnikrishnan based on reference from one of my friend. He did the initial clinical checks and suggested X-Ray, MRI scans for diagnosis. I had a disk prolapse issue and he explained the situation and different treatment options. Key hole surgery was recommended as the long term solution for faster relief, recovery. I was initially sceptical on doing surgery, but since my friend also told that Dr Ranjith is an expert in this area and based on the reasons explained by doctor i agreed to do the surgery. He did the surgery same day and the next day i could walk and do all my regular activities. I am truly greatful to him on convincing the need for surgery and also the fast relief/recovery i got with latest surgical procedures like keyhole surgery with minimum impact and faster recovery. He is truly an expert and consider myself lucky to get his treatment. Thank you Dr Ranjith Unnikrishnan.

I am Suman Suresh aged 44 . Pain is one’s experience is what I always and still believe .I am running few business ventures in town and I am an artist myself , my routine was getting messed up because of my health conditions . I was in this dreadful pain from my cervical (neck) till my tailbone past 23 years as a result of a trauma I have had . With age and time things got different and bad . Saw different doctors from different parts of this world . A lot of them put me on medication ,a lot said it’s just psychology, a few said I need to live with this as nothing can be done . I am a person who trust none but god . I was losing hope as age was catching up pain was getting worse that both my legs became numb and I was dragging myself for weeks . Neck pain radiated to my hands made me unable to draw . All this caught me into rage and depression . I fooled myself and people around me thinking this pain is normal and I just have low tolerance . Everyone took this for granted . Gods grace dr Ranjith Unnikrishnan the spine specialist in KIMS was a name that kept coming into me from different people . I had to make up my mind to go see the doctor and go through all reviews all over again . It’s tough to believe when I say he is god send I swear . The scans X-rays all as routine were taken. Went to see him after the scans were done , he told me so presicely that neck pain would be better with physio but he doubts the lumbar pain L4,L5 ,S1 . He briefed the scan reports and his readings . I did physio for almost 2 months ,the neck pain was almost gone but the back pain was still bad. I ran back to the Dr to say the same and he told me to stop physio immidiately and took repeat of scans to rule out all our doubts .lumbar looks no different from before which was clear that surgery has to be done . He said he would not pressure on surgery , but depends on me and how my life runs . I took no time actually to decide on that as the confidence I got from him none could ever give me . I told him I need this done and fixed a date for the upcoming week then . He kept telling me the detail on implants used , severity of pain post surgery , time for which the post operative pain would persist, the findings post surgery , everything so much In detail . I underwent a fusion surgery that lasted for almost 6 hrs . It was worth the wait as I believe it’s the best doctor and best place I could get for my medical help. He is a true blessed soul that can heal a person mentally and physically . I pray now for him every single day as I believe there is nothing I can give back for the life he has given me now . Prayers are the least . God bless him !!!!

We reached out to Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan for prompt assistance in addressing the jammed nerves between C5-C6 and C6-7, all the way from Dubai on Friday, April 5th, 2024. Although my wife, Veena (known for Veena’s Curryworld), was mentally prepared for cervical spine surgery, the logistical challenges of finding the right medical facility, managing travel arrangements, and planning for post-operative care loomed large. Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan generously offered to evaluate Veena, conduct necessary tests, and perform the surgery on April 7th, 2024. We flew out on Friday night, arriving in Trivandrum on Saturday morning for the consultation. Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan diligently outlined the potential risks, post-operative discomforts, and assured us of the hospital's capability to manage any complications that might arise. Thankfully, through divine grace, meticulous planning, and focused execution, the six-hour surgery concluded successfully without any complications. As promised by Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan, Veena was discharged on April 10th, 2024, with an ample supply of pain medications lasting three weeks. After a brief stay in a hotel to ensure Veena's comfort, we returned to Dubai on April 13th, 2024. Understanding the challenges of navigating medical procedures as expatriates, particularly in a foreign country with limited time and reliable information, Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan's exemplary service stood out. He not only met but exceeded our expectations. Emphasis was placed on the necessity of extensive physiotherapy, and Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan even arranged for a home care physiotherapist to visit us thrice weekly in Dubai. Veena ceased pain medication within twelve days and is now progressing well with regular physiotherapy sessions. The prognosis provided by Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan was accurate, and we wholeheartedly endorse his services at any time

I cannot thank Dr. Ranjith enough for his outstanding care during my father's spinal surgery. While his communication style may appear slightly curt, his attention to detail and thoroughness left us feeling confident that my father was in the best possible hands. Dr. Ranjith took the time to thoroughly explain the procedure, answer all of our questions, (including minute detailed answers to every email my brother sent) and even went out of his way to provide additional resources to help us prepare for the surgery and recovery process. Throughout the entire process, he was attentive and responsive to our concerns and needs, and his dedication to his patients' well-being was evident. Thanks to his expertise, my father's surgery was a success, and his quality of life has greatly improved. I would highly recommend Dr. Ranjith to anyone seeking a skilled and compassionate spine surgeon.
