As a Plus One student, I was very worried about my future when my parents noticed my gait difference and after the MRI I was diagnosed with scoliosis due to disc degeneration at L4-L5. Consulted doctor about my 71 year old mother's severe back pain and her difficulty to walk. Doctor explained in detail all the options clearly. I have been suffering from back pain and sciatica for than a year and have tried several types of treatments including Ayurvedha but for me nothing has worked.My situation was getting worse with slight weakness in my legs,my herniation was getting bigger and compressing my sciatic nerve even further. Dr. Ranjith Unnikrishnan is a very experience doctor in this field. The communication and explanation of the procedures were remarkable and very friendly. He has very good knowledge and coordination in our case of my son Mohamed Raishan Ahmed with relevant doctors. As someone who was born with spinal muscular atrophy type 2, a lot of issues have been bothering me limiting me from accessing my full potential. One of these issues was scoliosis, which had been progressively getting worse since I was around 8 years old. Since then, I was trying to minimize the curvature through methods such as pillow support, lumbar jackets and even belts on my wheelchair. As the curve kept getting worse, and as my skin also got damaged from wearing the lumbar jackets, my neurologist Dr Mohammad Kunju suggested to meet Dr Ranjith and I quote him: "one of the best spine specialists here".
